Admission Procedure

A student may be admitted to B.A. (Honours/General) & B.Sc. (General) three years Degree Course after passing the Higher Secondary examination in the general stream conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education in 10+2 pattern after a period of 12 year study or an examination conducted by the Indian School Certificate (ISC) or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or any other board recognized as equivalent by the University provided that she/he has passed in at least four subject with English as a compulsory subject excluding Environmental Studies(EVS).

* The date and time for obtaining admission forms will be put up on the College Website.

Eligibility criteria for Honours

For Unreserved candidates

55% in aggregate (best of 4 including English excluding Environmental Studies) or, if the candidate has secured less than 55% but not less than 50% in aggregate she/he should at least have secured 60% in the concerned subject.

For SC, ST & P.H. candidates

50% in aggregate (best of 4 including English excluding Environmental Studies) or, if the candidate has secured less than 50% but not less than 45% in aggregate she/he should at least have secured 60% in the concerned subject.

Admission to all Honours and General Course will be based strictly on merit. Merit shall be calculated as per the following formula.

* For Honours: Merit = 2S+T/6 (S = Marks obtained in the subject opted for Honours, T = Marks obtained in English + Marks obtained in the subject opted for Honours + best marks of other two subject [excluding Environmental Studies, the subject opted for Honours and English]

* For General: Merit = T1/4 [ T1 = Marks obtained in English + best of other three subjects excluding EVS]

Merit list of the applicants will be put on the college website on a date previously notified. No communications regarding admission will be made to the candidates individually. Applicants are therefore requested to check the college website for any information.

* No admission shall take place after the expiry of the last date of admission as per the guidelines of N.B.U.

N.B.:

  • Students from Arts and Science stream can apply for Sociology Honours.
  • Students from Vocational Stream will not be eligible for Honours.

Following documents are to be submitted at the time of Admission:

  • Original printed application form.
  • One Self Attested copy of the Admit Card of the Madhyamik Pariksha / equivalent Examination for proof of age.
  • One Self Attested copy of the Mark Sheet of the last published (10+2) Examination.
  • One Self Attested copy of the Certificate of the last published (10+2) Examination.
  • School Leaving Certificate in Original.
  • Migration Certificate in original for Students from Boards other than W.B.C.H.S.E.
  • One Self Attested copy of the SC / ST / OBC Certificate (for SC / ST / OBC candidates) of the candidate.
  • One Self Attested copy of the PH/VH Certificate (for PH/VH candidates) of the candidate.
  • Bank Challan of registration fee

Following documents are to be presented in original by the applicant at the time of admission:

  • Admit Card of the Madhyamik Pariksha / equivalent Examination for proof of age.
  • Mark Sheet of the last published (10+2) Examination
  • Certificate of the last published (10+2) Examination.
  • SC / ST / OBC Certificate (for SC / ST / OBC candidates) of the candidate.
  • PH/VH Certificate (for PH/VH candidates) of the candidate.
  • Bank Challan of registration fee

N.B.

  • Incomplete forms will be rejected.
  • If any wrong information is given by the candidate in the application form, his/her application will be cancelled.
  • College authority reserves the right to cancel any application / admission if the submitted document(s) does not /do not fulfill the admission criteria set up by the University of North Bengal.
  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent Examination in last two Years are eligible for applying Honours course.
  • Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent Examination in last Three Years are eligible for applying General course & for B.Sc.(General) last Five Years will by eligible for this Academic Session – 2017-18.
  • Students from Vocational Stream will not be eligible for Honours.
  • All admission will be provisional and it will be confirmed only after the registration under the University of North Bengal
  • Application forms will be cancelled if registration fee is not paid.
  • Admission Fee should be paid to the concerned bank within three (03) working days from the date of Counseling.
  • Fees once paid will not be refunded.
  • Physical attendance for verification of testimonials on stipulated dates (after making payment) is mandatory otherwise his/ her candidature will be cancelled.
  • The Candidate himself/ herself must be present during physical verification.
  • The Candidate has to submit cancellation certificate at the time of physical verification, if he / she was already admitted in another college
